The classic Smoky Mountain log cabin, right in town. Most cabins make you choose: a real log cabin in the woods, or a place close to the action. Gone Fishing gives you both. This handcrafted log cabin, with a green metal roof and chinked log walls, sits on the creek just 0.2 miles from downtown Gatlinburg. Walk to dinner on the Parkway, or hop on the Gatlinburg Trolley, which stops right outside. Then come home to the sound of the water and a private hot tub waiting on the back porch. Skip the parking hassle. Downtown visitors usually pay $10 to $20 a day to park. At Gone Fishing, two free parking spots are included, so you can leave the car and enjoy your trip on foot or by trolley. Two porches made for slowing down. Out front, the covered porch has a porch swing for watching the town go by with your morning coffee. Out back, a big covered porch overlooks the creek, with a private hot tub, a picnic table for cookouts and plenty of room to relax. A soak under the trees after a day of hiking in the Smokies is what you’ll remember most. Inside, pure log-cabin charm. The great room opens up to the rafters, with an open-tread staircase and a loft balcony overlooking it all. Honey-toned wood is everywhere you look. Leather sofas gather around a stacked-stone gas fireplace with a Smart TV above it. Next to it, there’s a dining table for the whole group and a separate round table for card games and puzzles. The full kitchen has slate-tile floors, a dishwasher and everything you need to cook in. Room for the whole crew. There are three bedrooms with handcrafted log beds: a king and two queens. Upstairs, the loft adds a cozy sitting area with a sofa, a skylight and a desk. A queen sofa sleeper brings the total to eight guests. There are two bathrooms, and one has a jetted whirlpool tub for a long, hot soak. A full-size washer and dryer and central air round it out.
