Park the car and forget about it. 6A River’s Edge sits at 440 River Road, right on the banks of the Little Pigeon River in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg. Cross the street and you’re on the Parkway, with Gatlinburg’s restaurants, moonshine tastings, candy kitchens and attractions all within an easy walk. Visitors to downtown usually pay $10 to $20 a day just to park. Your parking spot is free, and it’s waiting for you every time you come home. Step out your door and you’re there: Gatlinburg SkyLift and SkyBridge. You can watch the famous yellow chairlift glide up Crockett Mountain from your balcony. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, just down River Road. Anakeesta, the Space Needle and the shops and restaurants of the Parkway, all walkable. Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tram, boarding on the Parkway downtown. Gatlinburg Trolley. The main hub is at Ripley’s, for anything farther afield. Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Gatlinburg Trail starts along River Road and follows the river 1.3 miles into the Park toward the Sugarlands Visitor Center, so you can walk from your condo into the National Park. Come home to the river. Each condo has a private covered balcony overlooking the Little Pigeon River. Mornings bring coffee and the sound of rushing water over the rocks. Evenings bring the lights of downtown and the Space Needle glowing through the trees. Inside, a stacked-stone gas fireplace with a Smart TV above it anchors the living room, with soft leather seating that includes a sofa sleeper. French doors open onto the balcony from both the living room and the bedroom. The kitchen has rich dark cabinets, a dishwasher and a breakfast bar, plus a dining table for four. A writing desk lets you catch up on email between adventures. The bedroom has a king bed and its own TV, and the bathroom has a tub and shower. Wood-look floors run throughout, and there’s an in-unit washer and dryer. Easy access. The building has an elevator and exterior ramp access, which is a rare convenience in downtown Gatlinburg. It’s a good choice for guests who want to avoid stairs.
